So, i decided to make my own japanese chess game (Shogi), therefore i went to our local wood-whatever-factory this morning and asked for some wood from the trash. They gave me this wooden plank.
Wish me good luck :D
So, today i’ve cut out the first half of the needed pieces and polished them.
The only thing that slightly bothers me is the thicknes
but all in all i’m happy with them :)
Yesterday I decided to cut the pieces in half, destroyed 2 pieces by trying it, ate 2 kilos of chocolate and cryed myself into sleep.
Today I continued cutting and polishing and this time even took my camera to my granddads garage. So here for you, one piece before polishing and a polished one:
and here they are, my 40 Shogi-pieces:
Instead of painting the symbols with a soldering iron like it was my first plan, I will now make some templates and spray paint them.
in this way, i can paint the backside in red :)
Here are the symbols i will use:
King, Dragon and Horse will get the original japanese symbols.
Ok, no spray painting, my dad made me stickers at his workstation and they arrived today :)
Aaaand the backside:
Because he was able to make good quality stickers I decided to make a picture for Horse and Dragon too.
And I decided to redesign Lance:
And the two Kings:
The left one says ōshō (King) and the right one says gyokushō (jeweled general)
next step is sealing them :)
And sorry for the bad picture quality ^^
